I just listened to a good sermon last week about waiting for God to act in your life. I should reword that to actively waiting. What does that mean? There have been many times in my life where I really just didn’t know what to do. Like I felt that I didn’t know the direction I was supposed to go in. To be honest the past year has felt a lot like that. What I am proud of myself for doing this past year is being active while I wait for God to maybe place me on a more direct path with more clear goals. So in this time where I haven’t really been on a football team for that long and battling a tough ankle injury while with the 49ers. I have been actively working on becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, volunteering as a coach for UMass football and learning how to be a farmer. These have all been some of my passions. I have been fortunate enough to be in a position where I can lean more into my passions while not being tied down to a job. So in this time of waiting I have been taking action. I think that is one thing that may be forgotten sometimes as we wait for something better. It is that we stop thinking that we need to learn or try new things in order to experience a new reality. We have to be willing to take a couple risks and be willing to look a little silly. I remember when I started my garden in my front yard in San Diego during the start of the summer. I made two rows for my crops and at first a couple neighbors walked by and joked that it looked like a grave sight. So at first I was feeling a little silly. 7 months later and now they walk by and ask to help me out because of how beautiful the space has turned into. When you are waiting for god to perform miracles in your life you have to be taking action while putting your best foot forward. While I was at UMass, one of the wide receivers was frustrated with how the team was doing. He was one of the best players on the team and he just felt like he wasn’t getting the right opportunities. I told him to not be discouraged but look at the opportunities that he does have. How can he make those opportunities count? Too many times we get the grass is always greener on the other side syndrome when that is rarely the case. We make the grass green under our feet by taking care of what we do have. So, what can you do in your current situation to help yourself in the future? How can you water your grass where you are today? Think about it! Keep Going!

A Lot of times in Arizona I thought the grass would be greener somewhere else. It wasn’t until I really started staying present and focusing on the opportunities that I did have that helped shape my future career. Keep Going!
