Mindset: A Reason For Everything

For I know the plans I have for you says the lord plans to prosper you to give you a hope and a future. One of my favorite bible verses that sometimes gets forgotten in times of struggle and hardship. Recently, I was fired for the 6th time in the NFL. If you are reading my blogs you know that I always try to find some sort of meaning behind what is happening in my life so that it can propel me to the next chapter of my life whatever that is. A little backstory, on January 3rd of this year I got tackled in a practice getting ready for the UFL. The guy rolled up on my ankle. During that time I was unable to even really walk for 2 weeks. Since the UFL was coming up so soon, I quickly got back on the field to prpeare instead of waiting until I was fully healthy. This caused me to get to the UFL and have a hard time because my ankle was bothering me the whole time. Long story short the UFL didn’t work out. MY ankle was still on and off bothering me. It was frustrating because I wanted to train hard which I did but the ankle would flare up from time to time causing me to have to back off a little. Looking back what I should have done was really focused on healing my ankle instead of being so nonchalant about it. Low and behold I got a tryout with the 49ers. I trusted that God whould take care of the ankle and I would be good to go. But as we know many plans are in a mans heart but god determines the path. Athough we may seem like we are in control we really never are. The tryout went great as you read in the previous post but on the first day my ankle had swollen up again after a intense practice. By the 3rd day I was barely even able to put pressure on my foot. I went out and practiced again and actually made a lot of good impressions with my play. After practice I realized something was serious wrong now. I couldn’t even walk normally or put any presure on it. We had an off day and I thought that would be enough time to help me heal up. I have to say that night I couldn’t even move my body I was so sore and in pain from my ankle. The next day I went to practice hoping something would change but didn’t make it through. The 49ers released me the next day. My lesson from this event was to not ignore your problems whatever they are. Ignoring my ankle injury not being completely focused on my rehab costed me a good opportunity with the 49ers. God used it to wake me up because honestly I would have probably kept going on not trying to really fix my ankle. Now I am completely dedicated to healing the ankle and focuse on becoming 100 percent healthy again. We always have the choice to take care of our problems but sometimes God needs to intervene to wake us up. It is all about awareness and geting creative to solve your problems. I do believe there is a reason for everything. Look at challenging situations in your as just a test from God. There is good in everything if you search for it. Keep Going!
